Netflix has been available on Apple TV since it launched. Now that the fourth generation of Apple TV is in the market, Netflix has become an integral part of Apple TV interface. However, there have been some issues regarding Netflix and Apple TV. Users have reported that Netflix worked like a charm after Netflix Download on the TV but after some days the problem started to surface. This article will try to deal with the issue. We will suggest some workarounds so that users can enjoy their favourite Netflix on latest gen Apple TV

Error code 11800 explained:

Apple TV 4 has been released some time ago and is sold like hot cakes. It is much more powerful than previous iterations and has some added features. Many users have adopted it and have reported a common issue they are facing. Netflix Tv Help has clarified that the error is not from their side.

Users are reporting that they started apple TV version 4 and for some days Netflix worked as usual. After some days, it started showing error code 11800. The self-diagnosis has also been done by some users and has reached no conclusion. When they reached out for Help Netflix also claimed that error is not from their side. Apple has finally come out with a resolution to the problem.

Various tests and solutions put forward:

Some users have reported that there have been independent tests to resolve such issues. most of these issues are because of DNS conflicts from Apple TV 4th generation’s configurations. This might have happened after any OTA firmware update. Users reported this issue started coming after they registered their device on www Netflix Com Activate. While many are also reporting that they watched Netflix for a week or so and this issue is occurring.

The issue is Apple TV 4 specific and other versions do not face such issues. This issue is sure because of any OTA update to apple TV4 which has not been sent to other versions till now.

The independent tests suggest that an apple TV which showed the error code didn’t do so after it was connected to an external hotspot. This means that error occurs in the bridge at Apple TV>Modem>ISP.

The solution proposed forward can be used after signing up after the Netflix App Download for Apple TV. Once the initial setup has been done using hotspot, the fix can be put into place. The fix includes manually inputting the DNS of the ISP to apple TV. Users can obtain DNS of their ISP by calling them or via website of the ISP

Once users have obtained the DNS of the Internet service provider, they have to manually enter the information in the diagnostics tab of apple TV. Users can follow the following chain of commands to enter the DNS of the internet service provider in Apple TV.

Click on settings, then go to network. Inside network services, click on network information button. After clicking on it, all the information related to the network would be visible. Then users have to click on configure DNS. A new tab will open which would have blank spaces for input.

Users need to change the DNS to “manual” and hence can enter the DNS address which they received from their ISP. Once the address is entered, press the done button and now it should work like a charm.

The error was due to the fact that Apple TV is picking up some garbage value in terms of DNS. Manual entry can resolve the issue in one go. However, an OTA update is also a good alternative for Apple to resolve the problem for all ATV4 users.
