Two Little Words to Elevate Your Writing: Make Trouble.

Thank you for this piece! It made me feel a million percent better about my writing. I delight in creating trouble for my characters to face and problems for them to solve and messes for them to clean up and hard knocks for them to roll with. I had thought maybe that was just too “heavy.” Or that my work was “melodramatic.” (I was told that in a writing workshop — ugh — I felt sad for the person who blurted it out). But thanks for reminding me it’s not only OK, but even necessary :))
