Ideally you would mimic the way composers move back and forth between “creative” process (which you recreate in a deep learning model) and “rote” processes (which might have some AI inputs but are largely mechanical).

One of the problems with these sorts of projects is assuming the entirety of Western Music Theory is somehow gleanable from deep learning analysis on a bunch of pieces of music. Maybe. But composers and arrangers learn rules which could be modeled and deployed in a AI/Mechanical hybrid process.
