The problem with coding standards is:
- if it’s too short then many things are not specified
- getting detailed coding standard accepted and adopted is difficult. It also tends to be quite long so nobody really reads it …
Finding a good balance between the two extremes is difficult of course.
The example with Assert.assertAAA() seems like bikeshedding to me which is unfortunately too common. But it’s not actually easy to mentally distinguish during code reviews what is just personal preference and what actually matters.
