The StreamElements OBS.Live add-on for OBS Studio is the easiest way to manage your stream, with the lowest CPU usage around. Now, OBS.Live integrates our Media Requests feature, letting you increase viewer interaction from within OBS as well.

Viewer interaction is one of the best things about streaming. Your viewers are able to give you tips, post chat messages full of memes and emotes, and send you Bits. StreamElements viewer interaction features, such as the Loyalty System and ChatBot game modules (e.g. Bingo, Duel and Roulette), help you to increase this engagement.

Media Request lets you take things to the next level.

OBS.Live with Media Request, you can re-arrange tabs to your liking

This blog post will explain how you can use Media Requests and OBS.Live to increase your viewer engagement and revenue as well as detailing some other super special features that the add-on offers.

How OBS.Live Media Request Increases Engagement (and Revenue)

With OBS.Live’s Media Request feature, your viewers can now ask you to play their favorite songs or YouTube videos. You can manage all of these requests directly from OBS.Live, including pausing requests, toggling on/off the ability to request media or removing a requested video from display (you can see these options below). Plus, with the new Elgato Stream Deck integration, you can perform any of these actions by pushing a key.

This will help to increase engagement as your viewers can have an actual effect on your stream and the content being broadcast on it. It also allows them to share their favorite media with their favorite streamer (that’s you!)

And, in case that wasn’t enough, the StreamElements Media Request feature even helps you to increase your revenue. If you enable “Via Tip” in the Media Requests settings menu, this will add a section to your Tipping Page where viewers can add the URL of the video that they would like you to play.

You can set media to play per second, giving viewers an added incentive to tip you in greater amounts. This feature is already used by streamers like sodapoppin, Trainwreckstv, and greekgod to maximize the money that they make from their streams.

How to Enable OBS.Live Media Request On Your Stream

Enabling Media Requests on your stream couldn’t be easier. Here’s a super simple step-by-step to enable the feature from within OBS.Live:

  1. Open OBS.Live (make sure it’s updated to the latest version, there’s an auto-updater once you log-in).
  2. If you’re already using Media Request via our Dashboard, it’s already enabled on OBS.Live, with the same features you’re already familiar with.
  3. If you’re new to Media Request, on the right-hand side, click “Take A Tour” to configure OBS.Live.
  4. Follow the walkthrough (add a video to your playlist > enable the Media Request widget > choose how you’d like to accept Media Requests from videos > click Activate Audience Requests).

Important! In order to use Media Request, the Media Request widget must be added to your Overlay. Your Overlays are located in “My Overlays” on the StreamElements Dashboard. To add the widget, click the “edit” icon

My Overlays > Edit > Widgets > Add Media Share

Media Request Settings

All Media Request settings can be controlled from your Media Request menu on StreamElements, and each change in settings affects the other. For a full guide including all settings, we recommend checking out our Media Request blog. We’ve listed the main settings below to help you get started:

  • Viewer Requests on/off: Turning this on will enable your viewers to request media with the !SR chat command or your tipping page if you enabled Media Requests Via Tips.
  • Video on/off: Turning this on will show media on your overlay, turning it off will limit the YouTube link to audio only.
  • Show on Stream: This button is a “Kill Switch” in case you don’t want the video to play on your stream anymore. Clicking it will remove the video from your overlay and will display it on your audio player (audio will still play through).
  • Ban viewer / Ban track / Ban user & track / Remove track from the queue: Click on a track to enable banning the viewer that requested it, the track itself, both, or to remove it from the queue.
  • Queue moderation: Located within the Settings menu, enabling this feature will require each request to be approved by you or your mods before entering the playlist.
  • Media Request HotKeys: set your preferred keys for Play/Pause, Skip, Show/Hide video, Volume up and Volume down.

When you set up Media Requests via OBS.Live, your queue limit, maximum request duration, and cost per second are already configured for you, they can also be changed from the Settings menu. There are additional settings for you to play around with, helping you to ensure that your stream and the media that you broadcast is entertaining and suitable for your audience.

Other Awesome OBS.Live Features

Integrated Media Requests aren’t the only reason to get OBS.Live, though. Here are some other awesome features we’ve included to make OBS.Live the easiest stream management tool around.

  • Twitch and StreamElements integration: All of your favorite streaming tools are integrated within OBS.Live! This includes the StreamElements ChatBot and Tipping.
  • Activity Feed and Chat: OBS.Live lets you put your Activity Feed and Chat directly in OBS Studio, removing the need to keep open tons of windows.
  • Manage your Alerts: Pause, mute and skip your Alerts with a click!
  • Display Leaderboards: Showcase who the big tippers are, fostering healthy competition among viewers and increasing your engagement and revenue stats.
  • Custom Chat Bot: Give your channel’s moderation bot a bit of personality by creating a custom name. Go to the Stream Settings menu to edit your bot’s name (click the three lines next to “Activity Feed” > Stream Settings > Use the dropdown menus to set your custom bot name).
  • Hotkeys: Get quick access to your most-used OBS.Live features using Hotkeys. Go to the Streaming Settings menu to set your hotkeys (click the three lines next to “Activity Feed” > Stream Settings > Hotkeys). These are available in addition to OBS Studio’s default hotkeys settings.
