Squad Alpha №2.5

Okay, quick mid-week update here. We actually finished the core metadata late last week. As promised, we are now testing the 25,000 NFTs and confirming art and associated traits are in their right place. Although this is laborious and time-consuming, it is the only way we can determine that the bombs and backgrounds are shaking out the right way. If all goes well over the next few days, the last piece of this puzzle will be — once again — going through 25,000 individual images and metadata by hand for a final review.

This all sounds crazy, because it is… There are a few reasons why this is not as simple or fast as other NFT collectibles projects.

1) The art is not computer-generated. Because the NFTs were made by humans, it will take humans to quality-control the art. I wish machines could automate this part of the process for us, but unfortunately, they won’t be able to catch the nuances of 18 years of history.

2) This project is 2–3x the size of other projects so the size of our deployments(e.g. IPFS) and volume for checking is much larger.

3) We didn’t start from scratch. This makes ABS special and adds longevity and depth to the project. It also means that we can’t make up attributes out of nowhere. Everything we write and say about the art needs to be fact-checked against our history.
