Caught your gaze from afar,
My boat on the canal
To your bench near the park.
You gestured a peace sign,
I gestured one back;
A heartwarming moment in time.

You are me. I am you.
You knew it, I knew it too.
Within seconds, no longer in view.

As the
Dopamine-controlling,
Obsession-promoting
Scrolling
Chambers
Of
Perpetual value-affirmation and
Automatic worldview confirmation
Grew ubiquitous
Across the screens
Of all nations,
The final
Nails in the coffin
Of
‘The Cyber Utopia’
Had been dealt.

Everything had become true,
With everything also false.
Everyone had become right,
With everyone also wrong.

Mask or no mask,
Vaccine or no vaccine,
Climate or no climate,
Racism or no racism,
President or no President,
Truth or no Truth;

Everyone
Had become deaf,
Everyone
Had become blind,
Everyone
Was at odds
With each other’s
Customised
Deafness and blindness.

Everyone thought
That the echo of
Their own
Computerised mind was
An accurate depiction of
The whole wide world around them. …

Acknowledge the beauty
Acknowledge the beauty
The rain is falling
Acknowledge the beauty
The pain is galling
Acknowledge the beauty
The cracks in the road
The cracks in others
Acknowledge the beauty
The cracks in yourself
Acknowledge the beauty
The asymmetric
The unexpected
The sick and infected
The down and dejected
The ones misdirected
The things disconnected
The wrong and rejected
The different perspectives
Acknowledge the beauty
The frenzied collective
Acknowledge the beauty
Acknowledge the beauty
Acknowledge the beauty
The beauty of chaos
The beauty of life

‘Consciousness’ hits
The harmony splits
I remember things that I ‘have to do’
Just a moment ago
I was floating on flow
In a land without rules,
Without ‘false’, without ‘true’
The light shines in
The time shines in
The shite shines in
What a dreadful place
Awake awake
For badness sake
The realm of
Sense(less) dissension and hate
It’s cold as fuck it’s noisy too
As other people’s ‘perspectives’
Scream through
Better listen and learn
More like
Bicker and burn
Get dressed
Get stressed
Let the ‘real’ world return
Awake awake
But not quite enough
Guzzle coffee, take drugs
Just to focus on stuff
That you’d rather forget
Work, anxiety, mess
A society swept up
In shiny duress
That yells
Good fucking morning
In everyone’s face
Through the
Screens
Through the
Waves
Through the
Brain cells erased
Eat your eggs, drink your juice
And then scroll through your day
Scroll through love scroll through hate
Scroll your own thoughts away
Awake awake
But still fast asleep
In a world run by robots
That run our beliefs
Awake awake
But still fast asleep
In a world
Where the ‘shepherds’
Love strangling ‘sheep’. …

Random smiling faces
Pupils tired
But still elated
Daft inviting dances
That the morning
Rarely sees

Up
Until the afternoon
Unconscious
By the eve

Sunday morning coming down
Still up
If you believe

I’m dead
I’m alive
I’m in between
I’m all of the above

If life was always Sunday’s sun,
Could we all fall in love?

Can I walk home every morning?
Can we walk somewhere together?
All these random smiling faces,
Can’t we walk like this, forever?

Does the universe know what it’s doing?
Or is it just as bewildered as we are?

Does dark matter peer through to
our side of things
and wonder
‘what the quandary are they, and
what the quandary is their purpose!?’

On the other side of a black hole,
does everything that was sucked in from
‘our side’
get shot out in a completely different form?
Into a completely different norm?
Are there beings on the other side like us;
dazed, confused and teetering on the edge of
forlorn?

What are the odds?
Are there gods?
A higher purpose? …

Misguided
warriors of the light,
caught
between love and fear
in a spiritual garden
where things have long since
ceased to grow.

Difficult to tend to a garden though,
when you do not even know
it is there.

Found a dead
Fruit fly
In my glass of wine
So I scooped it out
But it scurried up my finger
And flew off
Before I even noticed
The resurrection.

It was alive!
Alive, and a winner
that day.

Nothing of note
Not play, nor work.
The birds sang songs,
The crickets chirped.

Bliss.

Data ran out,
So I’m about to
Hit the roof,

Miss the wall
Crawl the walls
Feel so small
Can’t feel my call,
Can’t feel, at all

I need the clicks
I need the buzz
I need to know
That I’ve got likes
That I’m alright
That people care
Comment and share,

I am the wall
I feed the feed
I feel this feeble needless need
To look for love
Not in myself, not in ourselves
Swipe left swipe right
Swipe life, swipe all

I’m getting anxious
Out of rhythm
Need my hit of
Algorithm
Don’t inject it in my veins
Just use the ads,
It’s all the…
