Historic data is stored for each order so the store owner knows how much crypto was sent, when it was converted, what rate it was converted at, what network and the transaction ID so it can be viewed on the blockchain.

All of the important crypto information is sent out to both the customer and the store owner when a new order has been placed.

Frequently asked questions

Will WooReq be open source?

Yes, WooReq will be fully open source and released under the MIT license. Once the plugin is in a suitable state and the full audit has been completed, the full source code will be released along with guidelines and best practices for developers.

Will you be taking any profit for from plugin?

No, the plugin will be 100% free — no profit will be taken by me or the Request team.

Will ERC20 tokens / Bitcoin / FIAT be accepted in the future?

Yes, any payment that is accepted by the Request Network will work with the WooCommerce plugin — the code is written in a very generic way which means adding new currencies is incredibly straight forward.

What currencies are supported?

WooCommerce supports hundreds of different currencies so we wanted the same for Request Network for WooCommerce. With different currency support it means that the conversion rate to crypto can automatically be calculated using your native currency.

Request Network for WooCommerce currently supports:

USD, GBP, EUR, CNY, JPY, CAD, RUB, PLN, AUD, SGD, HKD, ZAR, CHF, INR, NZD, DKK, KRW, BRL, IDR — and many more

Any currency supported by cryptocompare will work with the plugin.

What’s next?

After an extremely busy few months, I am very happy to say I will be working on Request related projects full time (like this plugin). 🎉😄🎉

The plan over the next few weeks is to support stores using the plugin, onboarding new stores and implementing the planned features. After that, my plan is to create a PayPal like service with powerful Stripe-like tools and APIs. The two services combined would provide a flexible and simple way for online businesses to accept cryptocurrencies and a simple way for customers to manage and pay.

The biggest issue with mainstream adoption of cryptocurrencies is ease-of-use, managing private keys, addresses, gas and transactions all whilst staying safe is a big turn off for the non-tech-savvy. Having a service built on the Request Network which allows users to accept, pay and use cryptocurrencies easily would be an extremely powerful platform.
