Computers are not an extremely new medium, but their universal connection and understanding how to use one is more necessary than it ever has been. This universal connection is an extension of both our bodies and our minds. Through this connection we are able to see things and experience things that we never would have been able to experience without that extension. We are able to communicate and play games with people on the other side of the world in real time and in some instances we can view live footage of events and even change the camera angle, actively engaging in things that are happening thousands of miles away from us. Endless information is available at our fingertips. If someone asks you something, saying “I don’t know” is no longer an acceptable response as the answer can be found in seconds. It is nearly impossible to succeed in the world today without being computer literate. If someone does not know how to use a computer and make use of the extensions it provides they are looked down upon in a similar way that someone who did not know how to read or write was looked at even as little as 20 or 30 years ago.
