Get into the Halloween spirit this October by visiting one of these spooky attractions that Philadelphia has to offer. As the sun begins to creep below Philly’s horizon, casting eerie shadows of skyscrapers and trees across the landscape, the thrill-seekers of the city come out to find the area’s most terrifying haunted houses and ghost tours.

For the faint of heart, there are man-made haunted houses with actors lurking around in zombie makeup and actors who are donned in the costumes of the most terrifying horror movie villains. For those seeking more realistic horror, there are a handful of attractions built within places that are said to actually be haunted.

Whatever spooky attraction you are hunting for this month, be sure to check out this list of haunted locations near you:

Pennhurst Asylum

People say that the halls of the Pennhurst Asylum are actually haunted, which adds a kind of terror that you can’t replicate anywhere else. While a lot has changed inside the walls of the asylum with digital sounds, high-tech animatronics, and trained actors being added to the attraction, there are still original artifacts from when the asylum was a state school in 1908. People can walk through the hospital themed rooms, bravely explore the 1,200 foot long underground gauntlet, and come in contact with human experiments gone wrong in the Dungeon of Lost Souls.

Laurel Hill Cemetery

Cemeteries are creepy enough during the middle of the day, let alone in complete darkness. At Laurel Hill Cemetery, you can buy tickets to be a part of the Soul Crawl, which is a walking tour centered around the cemetery’s history. Not only will you be led by the guide, but you will meet spirits within the cemetery as well!

Arnold’s Family Fun Center

Despite its deceiving name, Arnold’s Family Fun Center offers a unique experience that is as scary as it is fun. In Area 2200, guests are dropped off in a laser tag arena filled with clowns, monsters, and other creatures of the night and are forced to defend themselves against whatever might jump out from in front of them.

Whether you chose to go the traditional or nontraditional route this Halloween, you are in for some heart-stopping thrills at any of these attractions!
