I struggled with this as a new manager. I felt that my staff wouldn’t like me if I gave corrective feedback or bad news. I found myself softening “no’s”, pushing difficult decisions up to my boss or flat out agreeing to things that weren’t in the best interest of the person or company.

It’s definitely challenging but in the end it’s better for the employee and the company.
