Love this. A while ago I had an idea for an “iMovie trailers for pitch decks” that templatize the structure of presentations, not the slides themselves. The templates in PowerPoint and Keynote focus on slide design, not presentation structure. As you point out, it’s worthless to focus on the former until you’ve solved for the latter.
