When researching what goes into a good mission statement I came across these four guiding questions:

  • What are the opportunities or needs that the company addresses?
  • What is the business of the organization? How are these needs being addressed?
  • What level of service is provided?
  • What principles or beliefs guide the organization?

CallCast’s Mission statement is very simple:

“To make podcasting as simple as making a phone call.”

In an attempt to anwser the four questions above I will dive a little deaper but in true form, i will be extremely brief.

a. What are the opportunities or needs that the company addresses?

The current process for creating a podcast is riddled with challenges and difficulties. We aim to change that completely by using phone numbers and the noise cancellation packed into our smart divices to ensure overall sound quality. Make a phone call, make a podcast. After the call we will be working on simple In-App editing tools that will allow the user to edit, splice, and add audio and sound files to the audio track. Finally, we aim at making the podcast publication process super easy. We aim to assist with all 3 stages: Record, Edit, Publish.

b. What is the business of the organization? How are these needs being addressed?

What business are we in? Simplifying the podcasting experience business. We want to make the podcasting process super easy.

c. What level of service is provided?

I would like to think that it will be a “high-touch” but without needing a human or podcasting coach. We want to make all the features as intuitive and simple with all the guidance that a first time podcaster would need and pack it all into a simple to use app.

d. What principles or beliefs guide the organization?

Be a good person, care about people and your community, make things better, be curious, be adventurous, give people a chance, work hard, design, iterate, keep building, have fun and “follow your bliss”.
