If it costs millions to bring a new drug to market thanks to the FDA approval process how much spending will big pharma do on research and development of exotic diseases when we adopt the Canadian model of price controls and tell them how much they can charge for their product? It’s the same reason Canadians can’t get new, effective and expensive drugs from their provincial formularies under their “free” health care system (substitute pain and suffering for dollars.)
The reason your evil pharmaceutical companies pay big money to lobby the government is because government has effective control over every important aspect of healthcare in the US and has for decades. Your solution would be to give the state more money, power and control over healthcare?
If socialized medicine is the answer why haven’t Medicaid and the various “care” programs offered in nearly every state resolved the healthcare outcomes for our poorest citizens, or our veterans? Perhaps, just once, we should try the free market and see if it can do for overall health costs what it has done for laser eye surgery?
