@Olumide Eseyin — No analogy is perfect. The point is legal gun owners are not the problem, in fact, conceal carry permit holders are statistically less likely to commit crimes of any sort including gun crimes than the general population.

For example, Vermont has one of the lowest homicide rates in the country yet it requires no background checks for private gun sales, allows conceal carry without a permit and has no restrictions on scary looking black rifles (assault weapons in the argot of the gun grabbers.) It’s also more white and rural than most states in country.

Where citizens are sober and peaceful there is little violence and homicides, where they settle differences with force guns are a problem. The contrast seems to be cultural which is why urban areas with the strictest gun controls often have the most gun violence (always with illegal guns.) Keeping guns away from criminals and the mentally ill makes sense but making it more difficult for non-violent people to own and use firearms is counter-productive.
