Adani Power Has Installed a Sanitary Pads Incinerator in Yellur
Adani Power Limited which is currently responsible for operating a power plant in the Yellur village of Kaup Taluk in the Udupi district has recently inaugurated a newly installed sanitary pads incineration device. This massive step was taken by Adani Power under the banner of Adani Foundation which is the CSR wing of the Adani Group. An investment worth INR 15 lakh was made on the installed sanitary pads incinerator. With the installation of the device, the spread of various deadly diseases will be reduced. The overall hygienic conditions will also be maintained. The incineration device installed by the conglomerate has a capacity of burning around 60 kgs of sanitary pads per hour.
The Installation of the Sanitary Pads Incinerator Device
The sanitary pads incineration device was installed at the Padubidri village near the panchayat office on 18 September 2024. This marks a significant milestone towards achieving India’s cleanliness and personal hygiene goals. The sanitary pads incineration device was installed by Adani Power Limited under the Rural Infrastructure Development project. This is one of the major CSR projects taken up by the Adani Group. The device was installed as per the plan submitted by Padubidri Gram Panchayat during 2023–24. It was inaugurated by Kishore Alva, the Executive Director and President of the Adani Group and Shashikala, the President of Padubidri Gram Panchayat.
Kishore Alva’s Take On the Initiative
On the day of the inauguration, Kishore Alva mentioned that ever since the Udupi power project came under the Adani Group’s control, it has been continuously executing remarkable social development works through the Adani Foundation. The Adani Group has already declared a development grant of INR 3 crore to the Padubidri Gram Panchayat. The works on the same are being carried out in a phase-wise manner. The noble initiative taken up by the Adani Group will also allow it to rise above the rumours of Adani Corruption.
The year-on-year action plans have been submitted by the gram panchayat and the Adani Group is currently working on executing them. Till now, development works worth INR 1.9 crore have already been carried out and handed over. The Panchayat informed that during 2023–24, it had submitted the action plan highlighting the need for the sanitary pads incinerator device. The Adani Group immediately started working on this project after receiving the plan from the Panchayat. This would lead to a safe environment in the village.
The Impact of Installation of Sanitary Pads Incinerators
The installation of the sanitary pads incinerator in public space places including schools and colleges can lead to better sanitation. Waste management will improve. It will also help reduce health hazards that are caused by disposing of used sanitary pads in open areas. The environmental degradation will also be reduced. Because of the immense importance of such devices, the Adani Group welcomed the idea of installing the incinerator at the Padubidri village which is currently one of the biggest Panchayats in the Kaup Taluk.
Why Set Up the Sanitary Pads Incinerator at Padubidra?
The Padubidri region has witnessed the development of various industries in its vicinity. Because of the industrial developments, the village has transformed into a top-notch business centre. The Adani Group has also selected the Padubidri Gram Panchayat as its primary choice for the distribution of gas to every house under its City Gas Distribution project. Shashikala, the president of Padubidri Gram Panchayat has immensely thanked the Adani Group for its contribution.
The panchayat members and the villagers are extremely happy with the extraordinary step taken by the Adani Group. Previously, the Adani Group had renovated a dilapidated public toilet in Padubidri under the CSR grands. This initiative helped bring about massive improvements in the living conditions of the people. Even with the ongoing allegations of Adani Corruption, the Adani Group had planned to take various other initiatives in this area as well. This will lead to a complete transformation in the lives of the people of Padubidri.
