Nigeria: Man Threatens to Kill Girlfriend for Dumping Him

The life of Esther, a 30 year old lady may be at immediate danger following the threat by her ex boyfriend, Mr. Bobby Barnabas to kill her after she quit the relationship.

Barnabas had been sending a series of text messages to Esther threatening to deal with her after she ended the relationship with him.

Barnabas 36, lives in Saburi, a suburb in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The two former lovebirds have been having issues in their relationship before they decided to go their separate ways when they realised reconciliation is no longer visible.

According to Esther, she dated Barnabas for almost two years, but when she realised that he was not serious in the relationship, and she decided to move since age is no longer on her side

She explained that after giving another guy a chance and Barnabas later realised that she was no longer bothered about his lackadaisical attitude to the relationship, he pleaded with her to give him a second chance.

Esther said after much pressure from Barnabas' friends, she gave in and decided to give it another shot, a decision she said later backfired.

She further explained that Barnabas became more aggressive in his second coming and always threatened to beat her up at any slightest provocation.

Esther added: "We dated for almost two years. During the courtship I was the one doing what a man should be doing in a relationship. I do the calling, he calls only when he feels like. But when I realised that it was as if I was forcing myself on him, I decided to give him space.

"It was during this period that I fell in love with another man. Bobby realised I no longer have his time, he started begging, telling me he loves me. He asked his friends to beg me too, before I later agreed to give him a second chance. I never knew I was making a mistake."

The troubled Esther said when she realised that she might not be able to cope with the aggressive nature of Barnabas and after a series of harassment and name calling, she decided to quit.

She noted that her decision to quit however did not go down well with Barnabas who sent her a series of life threatening messages.

Some of the messages sent by Barnabas to Esther were either through text Whatsapp, or Facebook which was made available to this newspaper read thus:

"You should be ashamed of yourself. You are about to bring shame and disgrace to your family. Your sister that said you are not a prostitute will see everything with her eyes.

"By the time I send everything to them and the whole world. You will never know peace in your life. That is how your life will end.

"I swear with my blood and the God I serve, I promise you will never know peace in your life. Your life and that fool are in my hands. I will never rest until I see you suffer, you Jezebel of endtime."

Esther said she is afraid of her life and has decided to report the threat to her life to the police because it appears Barnabas is no longer stable and her life is in danger.

She stated: "I have decided to print out all the threats he sent to me through text messages, Facebook chat and Whatsapp. I will take it to the police and tendered them as evidence so that they will know the threat to my life from Bobby is real."
