Today I participated in a social media scavenger hunt. This entailed going around campus (in rainy weather), taking pictures of students and landmarks, running around like a crazy person interviewing random strangers, and posting rapid tweets.

These were my tweets, per my own investigation:

“Favorite View of the lake.”

“Student Michah Pasinski: ‘I get news from mostly Facebook and my phone.’ He is a sophomore and broadcasting major.”

“‘Dori Gronich says “I am a die hard fan of the Lakers and have been for four years and now I work as a sports photographer.’”

“‘I’ve been part of WNYO since the beginning of this year. To be part of it you can have your own radio show,’ -Amna Sadique”

“Conor Jodice says Crossroads is accessible, has cheap prices and great service.”

“SUNY Oswego supports aspiring advanced education.”

“Not everyone may know about the contributions Richard S. Shineman has made to SUNY Oswego.”

“SUNY Oswego has extensive study abroad and foreign exchange programs available.”

My favorite tweet from another classmate was one by Shenandoah Briere: “Before it was SUNY Oswego it was called Oswego Normal School and students signed a huge book saying they were a student here.” She included a picture of the book as well:

I think the best response I had was Gronich’s, because she had such blatant love and spirit for the school. I was glad I was able to capture that.

From my experience, I learned that sometimes journalism can be stressful, especially when there are due dates closer than anticipated. However, it was a fun challenge, and I am glad I had the opportunity to be part of it.
