Data Intelligence
Nowadays searching for things has become little bit simpler, you can use google to figure out where the closest café neo, GTbank or other others places are but there is still a huge gap in our data collection in Nigeria. How do people figure out things like where the nearest clinic or local government office is located, the essentials are lacking in the data collection. The government barely has any accurate data that is not just estimates, how many children are born in this country a year, how many people live in each local government, how many schools or hospitals are available. We also need these variables to measure the public sector’s effectiveness. There is no doubt that the facts of our past and present will aid decision making especially for issues like allocating resources, using data to make decisions almost eliminates any bias that may be involved, and makes things a lot more efficient. For example where do we install the next traffic light, that we have the capacity to purchase that is purely based on need? We could answer these questions in a defined and simple way using data.
This is not just for government but businesses, for decisions that not just involves the internal policies of the companies but also the entire society, decisions in supply chain, research, sales, marketing, brand development etc., to help organizations in making tough decisions and solving problems by providing a little clarity during the process, this is done by transforming all these things we wouldn’t have thought to look at into insight that makes the path we need to take a little bit easier to see.

Above is an image that shows an effort to figure how many public hospitals in the country and what specialist they have based on each state. It is barely as comprehensive as it needs to be but it does give a slight idea about what we might be dealing with.
