Our philanthropies ‘Feed the Hunger’ and ‘Reading is Fundamental’ weigh on my heart and I’m happy I got to be the one to make this all happen,” Newkirk said.
Refreshments are set on tables for the potential new members of Kappa Kappa Gamma to enjoy while learning more about the philanthropy of the sorority. Blue Rasberry lemonade fills the teacups, hinting to new members that blue is the chapters sorority color.
Kappa Kappa Gamma supports the ‘Feed the Hunger’ national philanthropy. Every year Kappa promotes the Pack-a-thon, a campus wide event where people come together and pack boxes of food for children and families around the world who are less fortunate. Twice a year members of Kappa travel over seas to places like Haiti, Bangledesh and Africa delivering these boxes of food personally.

I am so proud of all these ladies have accomplished,” Andrews said.
Kappa Kappa Gamma’s ‘Reading is Fundamental’ local philanthropy allows for members of KKG to donate books to children around the Oxford community. Members also dedicate time every week to reading to children at Oxford Elementary and donate proceeds from fundraisers like ‘BBQ for Books’ and ‘Kappa Con Queso’ every year. It’s to come together and give back for a greater cause, and even if we’re all a little sleep deprived, it truly is worth it,” said Mason Newkirk, Philanthropy Chair of Kappa Kappa Gamma.
