This is the first (of many) reason why I’m a feminist & the reason that I think is all-too-often not used when discussing feminism with hesitant men.
Many times I’ve observed or been a part of discussions where men (& some women) are expressing opinions that make it clear that they view feminism & gender rights as a zero-sum game. By sharing feminism in terms of how it specifically benefits the hesitant person you’re talking to, you give them a chance to feel included where they may not have felt included before.
You can’t change someones mind if they don’t feel as if they’re even allowed to participate in the first place. Affecting change starts with empathy & inclusion.
