First in US History: An All-Female White House Senior Communications Team

On Sunday, November 30 President Elect of United States of America and Vice President Elect of United States of America, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris announced an all-female White House Senior Communications Team. The historic newly announced team was said to be “experienced, talented, and barrier-shattering” according to Kamala Harris in a statement.

The historic team consisted of few familiar names. Jen Psaki appointed as White House Press Secretary, Psaki was the White House Communications Director during Former President Barack Obama Terms. Kate Beddingfield, who was the Campaign Manager and Communications Director for Biden Presidential Campaign, appointed as White House Communications Director. Pill Tobar is appointed as the Deputy White House Communications Director, who formerly served as the Communications Director for the Biden-Harris Coalition Campaign. Meanwhile Karine Jean-Pierre is appointed as the Principal Deputy Press Secretary.

For the office of Vice President, Symon Sanders is appointed as the Senior Advisor and Chief Spokesperson for the Vice President and Ashley Etienne is appointed as the Communications Director for Vice President. Meanwhile, the First Lady of the United States of America, Jill Biden will have Elizabeth E. Alexander as the Communications Director.

“I am proud to announce today the first Senior White House Communications Team comprised entirely of women. These qualified, experienced communicators brings diverse perspectives to their work and a shared commitment to building this country back better,” Joe Biden said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Vice President Elect Kamala Harris wrote, “Our country is facing unprecedented challeges — from the coronavirus pandemic to the economic crisis, to the climate crisis, and a long-overdue reckoning over racial injustice. To overcome these challenges, we need to communicate clearly, honestly, and transparently with the American people, and this experienced, talented, barrier-shattering team will help us to do that. These communications professionals express our commitment to building a White House that reflects the very best of our nation” in one of her statement.

The announcement of the all-female White House Senior Communications Team is not the first time Joe Biden and Kamala Harris shock the public with their choice of people that will help them serving their time in office. On November 24 before, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris announced their racially diverse cabinet that Biden said as the reflection of America. It is predicted there will be more racially diverse people that will help President Elect and Vise President Elect, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris serve their time in the White House in the near future.
