Grassroots Greatness: Part One

Lilac Moon

This post will be a list of progressive challengers and those up for re-election. They will need our support financially, to amplify their campaigns, and if possible to volunteer for them in some way. They are all important races, but some will undoubtedly be more crucial than others.

These are all the candidates I could find for now, so the list may be added to in the future. If I edit to add a name I will re-share and announce that. It’s my hope that you will get involved and stay involved. Everything we love is on the line. No president can pass progressive legislation without a progressive congress to back him up.

I am including VoteSmart links to the incumbents. One for their positions and another for their funding. Keep in mind you can click other tabs once there to see their ratings from various groups like NRA, Planned Parenthood, etc. Spend some time there learning.

I encourage you to search YouTube with these candidates names. You will find most of them have done interviews. Some, like Shahid Buttar, have done several over the past two decades; proving consistency. It’s our job to be informed, and support progressive candidates across the country; no matter where in the country we are from.

I am supporting Bernie Sanders for president. He is not perfect, but I will not allow perfect to be the enemy of good. I’ve grown much further left than he is over time, but I do believe he is our best shot at evolution. Here is a post I made about Senator Sanders:

Bernie hasn’t filled out all the questions, but most of his answers are here:

His funding:

___________________________________________________________________

Let’s start with the progressives running in Arizona:

AZ-01 Eva Putzova is challenging Rep Tom O’Halleran

Eva can be found here:

Her on the issues:

Rep O’Halleran gets most of his donations from large donors and PAC’s. He is considered a conservative Democrat:

Tom O’Halleran has refused to provide voters with positions on key issues covered by the 2018 Political Courage Test, despite repeated requests from Vote Smart and voters like you.

He refuses to cut defense spending, even if it was to balance a budget, but we all know there are far greater reasons to cut defense spending:

___________________________________________________________________

AZ-02 Raul Grijalva is up for re-election. He is a Justice Democrat and we need him to keep the seat. Please consider your support.

You can find him here:

And here:

As of right now no challenger has decided to run against him, but we know that could change.

Raul Grijalva has provided voters with clear stances on key issues by responding to the 2018 Political Courage Test.

His top donors are Labor:

AZ-06 Anita Malik is challenging David Schweikert

She can be found here:

Her on the issues:

David Schweikert has refused to provide voters with positions on key issues covered by the 2018 Political Courage Test, despite repeated requests from Vote Smart and voters like you.

He is pro-life, voted against the equality act, and so much more. We have to defeat him.

His top donors are from the finance and insurance sectors:

___________________________________________________________________

AZ Senate Daniel Whitfield is challenging Tom Cotton:

Find him here:

And here:

Tom Cotton has refused to provide voters with positions on key issues covered by the 2014 Political Courage Test, despite repeated requests.

His funding:

He is also a pro-life Republican, who will continue harming women’s rights.

“ In the early days of the Trump Administration, Cotton exercised influence from behind the scenes. Bannon told me, “He spent a lot of time in my little war room, and he gave us a lot of good advice. He was the one who told us about John Kelly,” the former Marine Corps general who is now Trump’s chief of staff. (The Senator and Kelly had met at a security conference when Cotton was in the House.) In recent months, however, Cotton’s influence has become more apparent, as Trump has embraced some of his most high-profile positions.”

Moving on to California:

CA-01 Audrey Denney is challenging Doug LaMalfa

Audrey can be found here:

And her on the issues:

Doug LaMalfa has refused to provide voters with positions on key issues covered by the 2018 Political Courage Test, despite repeated requests from Vote Smart and voters like you.

Doug also voted against the equality act and other important measures:

His top funding comes from agri-business, which Sanders has come out against for good reason:

___________________________________________________________________

Let’s do California:

One of my favorites is Shahid Buttar. He is challenging Pelosi for her seat. I have not only donated, but am involved in a group board on Twitter regarding the spread of his campaign. It’s time to remove Pelosi; past time.

Find Shahid here:

Recently he was endorsed by Shaun King:

Him on the issues here:

He has a 20 year track record on the right side of history:

Nancy Pelosi has refused to provide voters with positions on key issues covered by the 2018 Political Courage Test, despite repeated requests from Vote Smart and voters like you.

Her funding comes from the health sector mostly, which is likely why she is sending aides to insurance companies telling them not to worry about her allowing Medicare For All to pass:

She is also fighting other leadership in the house on impeachment of Trump:

She belittles progressives and our ideas, while calling herself one!

She talks a big game about protecting people with pre-existing conditions, but she didn’t even vote for it! In fact, she skipped a lot of important votes:

Good article about Pelosi & other top Dem leaders:

“The terrain has changed, but leaders like Pelosi and Schumer seem unable to shake the urge to speak as if our two major parties still share the same set of concerns and civic beliefs.”

The article articulates that during Pelosi’s younger service Republicans painted Democrats as the party of “abortion, acid, and amnesty”, so they function today in a world that no longer exists. The country is now far more progressive than it’s ever been.

Holding the center is a strategy that no longer works. In the past decade that strategy has cost Democrats over 1,000 seats. People would rather not vote, or vote for the party that may be strong and wrong, over one that is right & weak. For as much as we know might doesn’t make right, it sells.

“ Of course, Pelosi’s version of center left actually skews more toward right of center. She neglects to mention that the “moderates” who did win their mid-term races were heavily bankrolled by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, which refused financial aid to what she dismisses as the “exuberances” — including the victorious Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. She also neglects to mention that such right-wing Democratic senators as Claire McCaskill and Heidi Heitkamp lost badly in their own bids for re-election, despite their soulless valiant efforts to appeal to the Mythical Center.”

Pelosi and other Dems have tried more than once to restrict our free speech:

“ Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) are reportedly leaning toward slipping the text into the spending bill, which needs to pass for the government to stay open.”

We’ll be talking about Eric Swalwell next, who is running for president, and also supported this crushing free speech legislation. Many of them did:

Dems in the Senate who supported a crack down on free speech include people such as Cory Booker and Joe Manchin:

Dems who support the same bill in the house include people like Eric Swalwell, Ted Lieu, Adam Schiff, Steny Hoyer & many others:

___________________________________________________________________

CA-15 Aisha Wahab is challenging Eric Swalwell; who is running for President. As if we needed him to do that.

Aisha can be found here:

Learn more here:

Urge Eric Swalwell to fill out the Political Courage Test. He has refused to answer whether or not he supports lowering corporate taxes, which means we don’t know if he supports us or the corporations:

His donors:

As previously stated he co-sponsored a bill that would curb free speech if you chose to use yours to protest the Israeli government’s horrific treatment of Palestinians. Will they curb our right to protest our own gov next?

Let’s talk Kentucky and Mitch McConnell!

The first declared challenger to take on Mitch is Steven Cox!

Find him here:

And here:

Mitch McConnell has refused to provide voters with positions on key issues covered by the 2014 Political Courage Test, despite repeated requests.

Funding:

Look, Mitch obstructs everything. The house has passed over 150 bills, and they all die in the senate. He is on record stating he will continue to obstruct even if a Dem wins the presidency. He did it under Obama. He stole a freaking Supreme Court seat, and the Dems didn’t even fight back, but screamed at us to vote HRC, so she could fill it.

Google Mitch McConnell vows to obstruct and you will find he’s been doing this for years. If he remains in the senate after 2020 we will get NO systematic changes because our chances of taking over the senate are slim. People who could win senate seats are instead running for president, as if we need more people running for that office. Even Stacey Abrams will be running for president come fall when she announces.

Dems are more concerned with crowding the field in hopes of stopping Bernie than they are taking over the senate. The corruption is that bad. We have senators running for president who are going to lose their seats. We have candidates who could easily win the senate not even trying.

Please, please support Steven!

I added everyone I could find on my own and with the help of Twitter.

EDIT: I have since learned Mitch has a challenger in Steven Cox, but will leave this here in case Akilah decides to run.

She is in an exploration phase. We must get rid of Mitch, or he will obstruct every goal we have. I don’t care for Amy because she is pro-Trump and said she would vote for Kavanaugh. She later took it back after backlash.

You should follow Ryan Grim, listen to interviews, buy his book “We’ve Got People”, where he explains why the establishment keeps running centrist Democrats and losing. Great content and learning potential.
