My Top 5 Features of 2017… So far
By Adam Kolof
Listen, I know that people have different opinions on different types of music, but this is my list, so i’m gonna do it my way. Enjoy!
Justin Bieber — “Despacito (Remix)”
Leave it to Justin Bieber to take a smooth latin song and turn it into the banger of the summer. From the very beginning, when Justin smoothly comes in with his typical sex-fueled, enchanting verse, you know you’re in for a real treat. But it’s not until he utters the words “Despacito” (Cover your girlfriends ears!) and the beat drops that the real magic happens. You can party to it, fuck to it, chill to it, whatever the hell you want. Lois Fonsi, ya struck gold with this one.
Chance The Rapper — “I’m the One”
Chance is known around the rap game, better yet around the world for being a young kid who did it by himself. Always full of energy, giving it his all, with a huge smile on his face, which makes him almost impossible to not fuck with. This verse is nothing different. He brings his special sing-song flow to a pop instrumental with a Justin Bieber hook, giving the people a certified masterpiece. I really do enjoy the rest of this song also, with Weezy and Quavo taking their crack at a verse, which are both great in there own right, but I’ve gotta say chance really takes the cake with this one. Crack open a cold one, turn this on, and all your missing is few ladies and a pool for the perfect summer day.

Offset — “Slide”

Offset, one of the members of the “Migos” crew, has not been recognized for his solo work until very recently. I believe one of the main reasons for this is his feature on Calvin Harris’ EDM track “Slide”. I know what a lot of you may be thinking, but don’t worry, Frank will make an appearance later on the list. Frank Ocean aside, I think that offset makes this song simply because he flows unlike anyone I have ever heard before. His Genius adlib of “Good Gracious!” at the beginning of his verse really sets the tone, and his complicated rhyme scheme and adlibs hold the tone throughout. Yeah, Quavo and Frank are straight fire, but Offset wins this round.
Frank Ocean- “RAF”

For any rap fan, when RAF came out it was somewhat of a dream, an A$AP Rocky release filled with some of the hottest names in rap today. This song features Quavo, Lil Uzi Vert, Playboi Carti, and Frank Ocean. Who would have thought that the only singer in the song spits by far the hardest verse of the five? Not me, that’s for sure, which is why I was left wide eyed with my jaw touching the floor when I first heard this verse. Gay or Straight, this dude has bars, and I would love to see him release more rap style music. From the drop, where frank utters “Say cheese see the porcelain” to the end of the verse is lyrical genius with an amazing flow, which in itself earns the feature a spot on this list.
Eminem — “No Favors”
“They blame me for murdering Jamie Lee Curtis, Said I put her face in the furnace, beat her with a space heater, A piece furniture, egg beater, thermos. It may be disturbing, what I’m sayings cringe worthy, But I’m urinating on Fergie”. It doesn’t get much more classic slim shady than this does it? This may not have been Eminem’s greatest verse of all time, but it sure as hell took me back and made me acknowledge that he very well may be the best lyricist and most shocking rapper of all time. Big Sean took advantage of the fact that the two share the home of Detroit, Michigan, and boy was that a great move by him. The king stepped out of the darkness for this track, and showed the world he’s still got it. What’s Next Shady?
