12 ways to find acting auditions without an agent

We’ve all been there. You’ve dreamed about making it big ever since you got the leading part in your middle school play. I get it — and I love it!

There’s no one more hard working, brave and persistent than an aspiring actor. So now that you’re old enough to pursue your dreams and make it a career, where do you start? You’ve heard about having an agent…but if you don’t have a resume, professional headshot and actual experience on that resume, how do you get signed?! Not to worry! I’m here to give you 12 different ways of finding auditions without an agent.

1. Join an acting class.

Whether you live in New Jersey, Colorado or California — you’ll benefit tremendously! You can google local classes and check out their reviews. It is very common for a new student to be able to audit a class — or sit in for free and get a feel for the teacher and environment. Look for a teacher that is connected with local agents, photographers, directors, etc. and is familiar with acting techniques but also challenges you to grow. Observe the other students, the experience level, whether they are signed with an agent or how willing they are to help you.
