Alabaster: A Poem

You to me a goddess

I to you devoted and bowed

-

I avoid those eyes

With their blazing glory of deity

They drag me forward with beams

Of brilliance and warmth

I sing every time my mind turns

To you

My Heart

Turns to you and reaches

Stretches and strains

To see a speck of dust

Silhouette of splendor

-

And now I see you in your temple

This place where first I lay myself

Prostrate with eyes averted

Gazing only at your feet

Unworthy but welcomed by your grace
