As email usage increases, mail volume decreases, and experts share their views, it is apparent that letters and post lessen their value in the face of facilitated online communication. However, changes in popular culture and trends in consumers can pave a new way for communication dynamics. It all starts with the act of being thorough and patient.

Posting on social media or writing an email can take just a few seconds. On the other hand, seeking out a cool postcard, writing a thoughtful message with good penmanship and delivering it through correspondance can take some time and effort. This makes it the perfect way to express your love or friendship with someone.

Even though telecom advertising does sometimes encounter a fatigued and unwilling public, it is costly to use postal services to advertise considering that emails are usually free. However, when it comes to writing one or a few letters to build relationships and talk with those close to you, writing a letter is a great approach. By spending a few bucks, you get to make someone’s day.

There are already some artists and influencers exploring the themes of vintage communication and “snail mail”. I invite you to checkout Lullaby Art Co., a creative initiative looking to “expand the realm of mail and postcard art to support a cultural movement that believes in human art”. As screen time and instant gratification become topics of debate, I encourage you to look at the benefits of human culture and art.
