All Spicy Food Is From Latin America
Vincent Bevins

This article assumes chilis are the only source of “spice.” What about peppers or curry? By definition, “spicy” only means the use of spices. That can mean different things depending on what part of the world you are in.

Chilis might not be native to Thailand, but that doesn’t mean that Asian countries don’t have “spicy” food. The same can be said for India or African countries. THERE ARE OTHER FORMS OF “SPICE” BESIDES CHILIS.

It’s also insulting to ethnic Americans, such as Cajuns. Has Mr. Bevins ever visited South Louisiana or — for that matter — even heard of New Orleans?

I find it funny that an author who accuses so many cultures and peoples of cultural appropriation is so limited in the definition of “spicy.”
