Sorry to be the party pooper here, but as much as I would like to believe it I don’t perceive any sign of “inexorable decline”. Sanctified economic growth is a dumb indicator, nevertheless when we see the exponential growth of IoT, smartphones, TVs, computers, and even apps sales, I might be blind but do not see an inexorable decline.
Considering the EROI of fossil fuels, well, I guess that there might be other industries that have some interest in those fuels not to stop them (global transportation and energy production?)
I do agree on the need for a new economic model though :J
