Hidden Cash Spreads to Europe

Cluj, Romania is the first City to join the @hiddencash fever

There are just a few days since we’ve been hit with the social media experiment known as #HiddenCash, started by an anonymous benefactor who’s been spreading cash on various locations throughout San Francisco and other places around. He/she leaves clues on Twitter and people finding the cash envelopes are to tweet a photo announcing they found it.

Today, we’ve just witnessed the power of social media and the influence of a simple idea: another anonymous Twitter user @BaniCuSuflet (translated as Money with Soul) started the same experiment in Cluj, Romania, with a twist.

Those who find the envelope with the money are encouraged to give away half of the amount found to a person in need. So if you find 300 RON (roughly ~100 USD), you’re encouraged to give $50 to someone who needs it maybe more.

The first envelope that was dropped today was found in under 10 minutes and half of the money went to a little girl who was found selling icons on the streets of Cluj, to get some money for food. The photo shows her holding a 100 RON bill (~$35):

It’s amazing how people can recognize an excellent idea and multiply or even add to it, to pay it forward.
