This is kinda negative

To give a better background I started Law School fall of 2010 around the worst of the Recession. I had 50% scholarship to go so it was like, this could be a great opportunity, I had already invested hours and hours on preparing for the LSAT. Jobs for new grads were scarce and it seemed like a place to continue, while other new grads were still working minimum wage.

I didn’t quite have the passion or drive for law and I understood the risk but was also 22 at the time (graduated college a year early) and quite young to to really grasp the realities of life. I was optimistic that I would find a way and thought I would give it a try. I had second thought before I started but still didn’t have enough reason to follow my instinct.

When my grades came in, I started to realize the gravity of the loans I had taken out and really had to think over what my next step would be. It didn’t make sense to continue my education, with bad grades and bad prospects when it would cost 2X as much to continue, and there is no guarantee that it can easily be paid off. So I quit.

I had taken a real estate class in undergrad that qualified the state hours requirement and all I needed was to take the test. So I did. I also had a friend in real estate that helped me stay motivated.

I had to change jobs a few times and change angles and worked my butt off to make opportunities where there were none. But over 5 years I seized opportunities that gave me a huge advantage. Now my resume and experience is sought after and if I lost my position today, I could probably find another tomorrow. So not really a bubble. I foresaw the needs of the market and positioned myself wisely.

The point of the article is that sometimes we make mistakes and we have to turn it around by undoing everything. No one can tell you what the right path is. No matter how many other people are successful at it, it might not be for you. Success and happiness is still possible for people who make mistakes. Hope you were able to get that from the article.
