Nets are in an okay position to take picks and young prospects in exchange for relieving other teams for cap space. Might as well use the team as a laboratory for coaching and management as they move towards the future. They won’t get to league middle class for years, let alone contend.
It’s actually surprising there are only two NBA teams in the city. It’s the richest area in the world. Financially you could fit the Knicks, the Nets, and probably one or two more teams there. NYC used to have three baseball teams, back when baseball mattered. NYC metro area has more people than the Texas Triangle.
The Knicks suck up all the air though. They made 141 million profit because people are still dumb enough to buy tickets and merch to support shitty basketball. Dolan isn’t going to change.
