Dear Uber Delhi, Let people walk
I am an avid Uber user. And, I love lots of things about this company. Its drivers, customer support, App UI and even promotional emails. Most of the times these emails are about amazing cash back offers, road etiquettes and new features. Everything is just perfect.
But today was different. While the subject of the email (as always) was tempting, contents were disappointing. I wasn’t happy to read this email from Uber. The subject read: ‘How far can you go in Rs. 60?’, and the contents inside read (screenshot below):

More details about the offer can be found HERE.
- Panchsheel Park to Hauz Khas is about 1.5 Kms walk via Outer Ring Road.
- Noida Sector 16 Metro Station to Mall of India is about 2 Kms and,
- Huda City Centre Metro Station to Sector 29, Gurgaon is about 1.5 Kms walk.
Dear Uber, above distances are easily walkable. In Delhi very few people who own cars or can afford cabs, walk. And by offering cheap rides for short distances you are actually creating more problems for people and the city. I would have loved if you would’ve done something to encourage people to give up cars for one day and walk. City like Delhi badly needs such initiatives which encourage people to walk or cycle.
May be next time? :)
