Abu Dhabi belongs to which country
This question may seem like a joke to many, but I encounter this search on a daily basis. Honestly to say the name United Arab Emirates is not spoken at all. People only know Dubai as the country not realizing it is a city. I feel Abu Dhabi needs to go in to the minds of travellers which made me write this brief small blog.
Abu Dhabi is the capital city of United Arab Emirates which covers 87% of the landmass of UAE. It’s the largest city in the UAE which is then followed by the other 06 Emirates. So Abu Dhabi too belongs in the Middle East Arabian Gulf and is a part of UAE. It’s the Father City of Dubai.
All Government Institutions, Financial Bodies, the country’s decision making and The President of UAE and The Ruler of Abu Dhabi His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan are all based in Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi is known for their oil and wealth, but today it has risen to be one of the top listed cities in tourism and luxury. Global travellers and economists say that Abu Dhabi is one of the safest cities in the world and the best in the Middle East.
Abu Dhabi was initially known as Milh which means salt but later was named Abu Dhabi carrying the meaning of Father of Deer. All historic and heritage of UAE started here in this magnificent gigantic city Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi has 02 regions; one being Al Ain in the east with the Al Ain oasis and Al Gharbia in the west with the Liwa oasis, all of them connected with the Mussafah bridge, Sheikh Zayed bridge and the Maqta bridge.
Abu Dhabi is same as Dubai which welcomes both Arabic and English as their main languages with a lovely bunch of residents living over here. Today tourists visit here to experience the best desert safaris in luxury style, Dhow cruise in 5 star service, Island Getaways, mangroves, luxury hotels, and not forgetting the icons Sheikh Zayed Grand mosque, Emirates Palace, the Ferrari world, and the Formula 1 racing. So Abu Dhabi is nothing new it’s just that the name is less spoken. With the same GMT and currency as Dubai today Abu Dhabi is an example to the globe of how a city has developed from being the heritage, to the capital firmly as the country’s main hub and now dominating tourism.
Most people travel from Dubai to Abu Dhabi for many sightseeing and adventures but the first spoken city is Dubai which forgets to highlight Abu Dhabi. For me in simple terms I would say Abu Dhabi reserves its publicity as they believe in a slow and steady victory which made Abu Dhabi Airport today as the best stopover destination airport in the world where travelers feel home at the airport.
