Getting low or no conversion rate from your ad campaign?
Don’t know how to kick start building your personal brand?
Want to stand out from the Cutthroat competition?
Stay with this post till the end
Hi there :) Greetings
After the beginning of the Digital Deepak Internship Program by Digital Deepak.
My first task from the first session of the digital mind building journey is to find my micro niche (Gold).
The first session is well focused on the importance of effective communication and developing the art of selling your ideas. You can get the details learning of the first session form this post.
Moving ahead!
The second session held on 7 March 2020, the very beginning of the session, starts with the mind-blowing result of 89 percent submission rate of the first assignment.
Deepak sir tells us the reason behind such a high submission rate is Carrot or Stick Psychic of humans.
The carrot is referred to as the positive pressure on interns of getting the reward of Rs 1000 INR just by writing the blog post of our first-class learning.
While the stick is the negative pressure which we have often faced while doing our college/School assignments.
Why I am telling you this?
The main reason behind this is that the learning and method I am going to share is implemented by one of the top digital marketers of India.
And the above results are the live example of his methods. Which lead to almost 90% intern among more than 650 interns to make the call to action from an online program which is difficult even in a physical class.
Here I am sharing my key learning from the second session of DD internship as a part of my second assignment which includes the following.
Customer Avatar — Your 3D Glasses in Digital world?
As per the above statement by marketing legend, you might have got some ideas about the best way of marketing and selling your products and ideas.
But how’s it's possible to convince the customer to buy your product without really convincing them?
The Answer is to develop your customer avatar or customer persona.
What is Customer Avatar?
A customer avatar is a detailed profile of your ideal customer. It represents the different user types that might use your product and service.
Creating a customer avatar will help you understand your user’s need, experience, behavior & goals.
Thus it will be an effective way to communicate with your customers and make a connection with them emotionally and mentally both.
So how could you develop your customer avatar?
The second session is mainly focused on the ideal way to develop your customer avatar.
It includes developing a better marketer or version of you by understanding your right audience's needs and problems in an effective manner.
I would like to call it a 3D’s Glasses Technique. As to develop the customer avatar you have to work on mainly three areas.
- Develop the right marketer mindset.
- Define your audience.
- Design customer avatar.
As I don’t like to remember more things, I always try to make them as short as possible. And that’s why I call it the 3D Glasses technique.
3D Glasses technique allows you to develop a better marketer mindset, understanding your audience, building a relationship with your audience in the digital world.
Even it is quite useful in traditional marketing too.
Let’s dig it deep.
Develop the right marketer mindset(1st D)
As you marketing your product, you need to connect with your customer so they can relate to you.
thus to understand this its important to develop a marketer mindset.
But how could you do that?
Here’ how you can start building your marketer mindset
- Master 1 to 1 Conversation technique.
- Be Authentic.
- Keep Explore your niche( Gain Experience be better marketer).
- And Always create values for your customers.
1. Master one to one Conversation technique.
If you cannot converse well 1:1, you cannot converse well 1: many
As you see the above statement by Deepak sir mainly focuses on developing a good conversation with your customer.
Thus while marketing your product you should focus on having a good conversation with your customer.
But how you develop a good conversation. Here are some rules are given by my mentor.
- Write like you mailing your one friend.
- Address people by their first name.
- Connect with them with 1:1 conversation(Email is recommended)
- Start with the question (related to their problems and needs).
The above rules will result in creating and join the conversation with the person's mind. Thus Customer feels like they really talking to you about his business problem and getting the solution.
Your writing structure should be like a slope. Ie. Heading>fist sentence> Second sentence> Fourth sentence.
Your every part should be supportive or explaining the very next part.
2. Be Authentic.
People are tired of the same fake faces.
It is very important to show what you are. If you are imperfect in something tell them. Your honest opinion should be present to your audience as it is.
This is the psychological fact that people are more easily develop their trust who is like them and present their views as it is without any compromise with their customer quality consumption.
3. Keep Exploring (Gain experience)
People with more life experience have a wide knowledge of the various situation of their use of product and service.
This will help them to understand more easily the issues and concerns of other people. Which leads you to be a better marketer.
So you should keep exploring your selected niche by travel, meeting new people, learn new languages, and doing new things.
4. Keep creating the values for them.
There is no substitute or replacement of value. If you keep creating the values for your customers, getting sales is like a piece of cake for you.
Define your Audience(2nd D)
If everyone is your audience then no one is your audience.
Getting to know you and define your audience which are or might be interested in your product is very important.
Even if you are the king of Communicating with people you won’t get sales or fewer sales of your product if you are promoting to the wrong audience.
For example:- If you promote the sanitary pads in the boy's hostel. Do you think you get sales?
Absolutely not.
Because they don’t need it.
Now, this is a very extreme example. And every product has a different audience if we classify as per their needs.
So, how can you define your audience?
While defining your audience, these two needs should be well considered.
- Demographic
- Psychographic
Demographic needs
These needs are based on factors like age, gender, education, location, marital status, income level, etc
Psychographic needs
These needs are based on factors like interests, hobbies, fears, likes and dislikes, personal nature, etc.
It is very important to know the above needs of your audience based on your product. So you can put your efforts in the right direction.
How to get the details of a person's need?
Now you must have questioned how should you get the details.
There are plenty of ways, among them, some are as follows
- Conduct the survey ( using google form or any other form creating service)
- Direct talk to your customer. (either through person meeting or call)
- An educated guess based on your experience.
Design your customer Avatar( 3rd D)
After the completion of above 2D’s. Its time to give the 3D effect to your glasses.
It works as the mechanism in your glasses which helps to draw the conclusion of your customer avatar.
Your customer avatar should address to one person based on how your product helps him to solve his problem and challenges.
This should be applied to the majority of your audience having the same issues and problem respective of their demographic and psychographic need.
At the later stage, you can create different customer avatars based on a different audience.
What ideal customer avatar includes?
The following things must be included in your customer avatar.
- Age Group
- Goals & objective
- Their challenges
- Their pain points
- Their interest like and disklike.
Boom after following the 3D Glasses technique of developing the customer avatar you are now able to see your targeted customer in your digital world.
This will lead to a high conversion rate and high traffic in your blog and website
Let’s see the example of a customer avatar.

Raj is an Arts Graduate male student ranging between the 22 -25 age group. He is preparing for civil services and came to SPIPA Ahmedabad for his preparation. He has a goal to appear in civil service from his next 3 years of preparation. His hobbies are writing, reading books. Along with his study, he used to give personal tuition to 3 students to meet his expenses and part-time work.
But he is looking at some other parttime work because giving tuition is very exhaustive to him. At the time of his student exam, he has to give more time to them which is distracting his own study.
So he is looking for part-time work from home through which it met his expense and saves his time. Teaching field is not his cup of tea, instead he is looking to learn the other practical skills keeping in mind to dedicate 4 hours daily along with his study which make him stable financially in future, for preparation of his worst case scenario i.e not clearing the exam.
