When I was just out of school, I did some freelance work. I was initially offered one hourly rate ($12). But when I did the “Let me think it over 24 hours,” and accepted, the employer said, “So, $10 an hour.” I didn’t correct him because I was intimidated. When I told my dad about it later, he laughed and said: “That was a test, and you flunked.” He was right.
