Super Mario Bros 3: Lost Levels
This is a promotional post for a custom made game in Super Mario Maker 2.
Many game fanatics will acknowlegde Super Mario Bros. 3 (SMB3) to be one of the best games ever made. A lot of elements that makes Super Mario so beloved started with this game. That blissful sensation of nostalgia whenever playing through the levels blurs my objectivity, but.. this is just the best game ever made.
I was thrilled when Super Mario Maker 2 (SMM2) hit the shelves. As a little kid I used to draw my own maps and let people play through them with a different colored pen, reminding the players to imagine the gravity. I even reorganized my pretzels on the table, in such a way it depicted challenging Mario levels.
There are tons of great creators in the Mario Maker community using the limited amount of tools to create amazing levels with mindblowing mechanics and contraptions. SMM2 became a game on its own with a unique flow of levels. The amount of classic levels being made, the ones that brings you back, aren’t being made anymore. And why stick around in that little corner when you can explore so much further?
Still, for nostalgia’s sake, I stayed in the corner and decided to create a new SMB3 with Super Mario Maker 2.

The Game
SMB3: Lost Levels is a continuation of a personal project I started during the first Super Mario Maker. This game aims to capture the classic feel of the original Super Mario Bros. 3, upholding most of the same aesthetic feel and design rules. Most. I have been peeping around the corner and used some things that were not in the original. SMM2 doesn’t provide all the blocks and enemies that were in the original game, so to keep all the levels unique and interesting I’ve used some other elements.
The goal of SMB3: Lost Levels is to give the player a pleasant and relaxing experience playing and hopefully give the impression of playing a new set of classic levels!

A Bookmark Page
To manage and promote this game I have set up this webpage with all levels and worlds listed in order. The world sections contain screenshots and descriptions of every course with notes on secrets to find. I will continue to upload new courses and worlds on this webpage.

The webpage is responsive to make the list of courses a user-friendly second screen on your phone.

A Promotional Trailer
To promote the game and the website I have created this trailer that aims to hit the nostalgia nerve of many Super Mario fans so they might give it a try.
Good luck! And thank you for trying out SMB3: Lost Levels!
