He stated that he, as a senior member of the company in question, would fire the man that deliberately and decisively insulted some ~30% of their workforce, and ~50% of their client base. And he did this in so sloppy a fashion bad press is still being generated. What’s more, he did so for so feeble a reason as “hey guys, I’ve just been thinking”.

It would take some kind of almighty protection to avoid being at least reprimanded over that.

Honestly, that talk about punishment for dissension sounds like hedging. There are plenty of other obvious reasons to get canned over something like this that have nothing to do with political ideology.
