Aekum: Guru & Mentor

Guru & Mentor are not synonyms; it seems though with the mountainous ‘Word-slide’ of language people are already mixing them up.” says Latika Narang, co-founder of Aekum diagnosis & healing centre and UK certified Bach practitioner.

In mythical and historical India education was imparted by evolved individuals who had reached a point of higher consciousness through meditation and prayer and also often knew the art of warfare or supervised those who did.

The most powerful & Rich Kings and noblemen of the Land looked for such ‘Guru’s’ who could impart the knowledge to their children. Having reached the apex of their Journey some Sages would consider taking on worthy disciples or make the unworthy, worthy. The western world has no such context, as a result, the title of Guru is for only those who impart spiritual knowledge. Irrespective, of the East or West context, a Guru is essentially a very Spiritually Evolved Being.

Mentorship being a corporate word, has every human resource department and consulting group providing definitions. Merriam-Webster calls it a trusted counsellor or guide as opposed to “an experienced and trusted adviser” according to Google dictionary

At æküm healing centre we believe it is easier to talk to a Mentor rather than to your family members and friends, as trust is not at risk, it will not be twisted, thrown back at you at another point in time. Ironically, you can be relaxed and show the real you, which could be venting, weeping, wicked or nutty. æküm is asking you to decry your family and friends but we understand that the ideological gap between men and women — adults and children have become wide & complex, leading angst between people who actually love one another and wish to be loved in return. We get it!

To be able to clear your thoughts and work with some one who has an objective stance so that your emotional & mental dissonance does not negatively impact your education, personal or professional decisions, directions and quality of life, you need a mentor.
