“If you have a problem with this, it is because you are a reprehensible neocon piece of shit with whom I should not have to share a planet…If you think that Trump has done a bad thing by purportedly working toward these de-escalations, I want you off of my planet before your idiotic neocon warmongering gets us all killed, you amoral fucking psychopath. The world would literally be better off without you. No I am not joking, no I am not exaggerating my position to make a point, and yes, I mean you, personally.”

So your position is this mentality is the only way to hold people responsible for their ignorance?

If you want to write off the Rachel Madows of the world and the tentacles of the Obama/Clinton political machine like Brian Fallon, Robby Mook, John Podesta and Neera Tanden, go for it. I think it’s still counterproductive, but I also think there’s not much progress to be made with such people so no great loss.

However, specifically regarding America voters—the only voters I’m in a position to discuss intelligently—I’m not saying people should get a pass for being misled. I’m saying to extend a shred of empathy to the millions who are struggling to keep their heads above water is a good idea. I’m saying not doing this smacks of the error that Hillary Clinton and her cronies make i.e. “if you’re not with me, you’re sub-human.”

Are some of these people entirely to blame for their poor decisions? Sure. But many others are victims of circumstances beyond their control. Just like the gang-bangers who work corners and shoot each other in places like Chicago. Just like the bigots who hold retrograde social attitudes. Some really are deplorable and irredeemable; most are basically decent and entirely capable of changing course if given the benefit of doubt and a chance. It should be obvious to any reasonable adult that real life is complicated and not cleanly binary where people are either good or despicable with no middle ground.

It should be equally obvious that parsing together an objective view of the political situation requires more economic, temporal and/or mental resources than most Americans have thanks to the partisan garbage currently passing itself off as our media.

Leans to the left, but sees reason on both sides if you get beyond the leadership. Hypocrisy and intellectual dishonesty are my pet peeves.
