Aerobic House Cleaning

True Story. Becoming healthier is not about buying a machine, a gym membership, new spandex, nor adhering to grueling routines…it’s about inviting and experiencing that change of heart that looks for, enjoys and embraces all types of simple physical activities that can be found in everyday life, and forgiving ourselves when we screw up, eat bad foods, drink too much, and fall off the “health and fitness” wagon. Health is NOT about having hard body nor is it believing that we aren’t healthy if our bodies aren’t hard.

For decades I trained at the professional level kickboxing and other martial arts at the Degerberg Academy in Chicago. But after the first of my two Daughters were born in 1995 I quit kickboxing and golf and the gym and anything that would take time away from my kids. But being a health freak and addicted to exercise I had to find a way to stay in shape.

One day while finding myself out of breath from picking up after them and cleaning constantly, I realized that by applying proper form to cleaning and regular chores, and using furniture as exercise equipment, I could get a very high quality killer workout.

Friends would come over and watch me do my Aerobic House Cleaning and kid and joke and laugh as I vacuumed, mopped, dusted, washed floors and did pushups on two chairs with my legs elevated on the countertops. On a dare from these lovable, semi-inebriated chuckleheads, I made a short video and sent it off to media companies, thinking I wasted my time.

A few days passed and the Cincinnati Enquirer called and put my story on their front page of section two. The next day the late Paul Harvey read the story on his radio show. I nearly fell out of my car listening to it. Eventually the Aerobic House Cleaning story appeared on WGN, ABC, Right This Minute News, The cover of THE WALL STREET JOURNAL plus a video, and media in Australia , The United Kingdom, Vietnam, South Africa and more. Even the top rated comedy show in Japan asked me to demonstrate Aerobic House Cleaning to 3 chubby Japanese female comedians.

Now there is a book on Amazon (NO I AM NOT PLUGGING IT) called The Aerobic House Cleaning Lifestyle. You don’t need to buy it, but it would be cool if you did, and the original video is on YouTube for FREE.

Aerobic House Cleaning is a bit Scripture based with some real life humor and biting tough love because I am convinced that America’s 200,000,000 overweight folks have tried and failed too many times to get fit - have given up hope for becoming healthier. Lost confidence. Lost Faith. I can help them. God wants me to help them. Of this I am sure. Who else can get their story and video on the front page of the Wall Street Journal? It’s God’s will.

That’s why the lessons in Scripture are essential in Aerobic House Cleaning Lifestyle, because we all fail and fail greatly, and we all need to forgive ourselves when we do.

Failure? My personal example. I am addicted to vanilla ice creme and chunky peanut butter. And when its in the house I can hear it call me, especially at midnight. And I give in. I eat half a jar of the PB and a quarter of the ice creme. The next day I am riddled with guilt. Real guilt. Feeling worthless. Loser. Should just go crawl up on the couch and finish ALL the crap food in the house. have a big bad pity party. Whimper with each spoonful.

But I forgive myself and move on. I mock the guilt. I mock the evil feelings like loser, worthless and laugh. I get back to fitness and go for it.

Since 1995 I have stayed fit by washing the car, painting, hiking, just walking, digging and pouring a concrete patio, dusting, doing pushups on chairs, or even light construction work, proving that Aerobic House Cleaning works and could be the solution to America’s — even the World’s — overweight.

Now I am working to get a Reality Show. If I do it’s God’s will. If I don’t I’ll keep trying.

Cheers.
