Movement of database to decentralized and encrypted storage — a roadmap milestone

Dear Subscriber,

With the 1st Aeron anniversary celebrated this August, the roadmap milestone of August 31st has been completed. Aeron main database including user profiles and flight log records, was moved to decentralized and encrypted storage. Data-at-rest encryption implementation in MariaDB makes it almost impossible for someone to access or steal a hard disk and get access to the original data. Furthermore, Aeron database is replicated across several cloud based storage providers to ensure sufficient decentralization.

Same as enabled before, all flight log records are mirrored in Ethereum blockchain.

User (pilot) profiles now include not only licenses and ratings, but also expiration dates to track license renewals. Profiles support user and aircraft photos as well.

The team keeps ongoing search for high performance and cost effective blockchain-based database engine to migrate from MariaDB and achieve even wider decentralization.

There are over 2000 flight schools featured at Aerotrips.com portal, with 100–150 schools being added or reviewed monthly. The Aeron Pilot applications will be further updated to v1.4 in September, adding more functionality and fixing bugs found by our fellow pilots.

Aeron’s sub-project — CryptoBonusMiles (CBM), a universal bonus miles platform, has been announced recently. None of the airline bonus programs today is universal, so a membership aggregation effort can offer a huge boost in usability. The project will allow to save on travelling even more, adding CBM bonus miles to standard airline loyalty programs.

CryptoBonusMiles will expand Aeron concept to the mass market for millions of people who have ever flown. It will be tightly integrated with Aeron, offering extra benefits for Aeron (ARN) token holders. CBM roadmap will be made public soon, with active development ongoing and Alpha version to be released this fall.

Aeron project updates are posted at https://twitter.com/aeron_aero which remains our main public channel for announcements. We will further inform Aeron community of the ongoing developments.

With Kind Regards,

Aeron Team
