Thanks, Nir. This methodology for removing bad habits from your life really resonates with my own experience.

For me, the bad habit was eating fast food, born out of a childhood of playing year-round travel sports and constantly eating on the road. I continued the habit into college and after… until I’d finally had enough. I targeted the lead culprit — McDonalds — and drew a line in the sand. I made the declaration: “I will never eat McDonalds again!” and continue the mantra of “I don’t eat McDonalds.”

Once I made this change, giving up the rest was no sweat. I will admit, I’m not perfect – I do enjoy a few, certain special items every now and then: a Chick-fil-a breakfast biscuit (time & region specific) and, of course, Shake Shack (the line helps limit frequency). But given how accessible McDonalds is, giving it up created the necessary domino effect of progressive extremism… and I’m loving it ;)
