What a beautiful piece, Paul. And way to put things in perspective! My Great-great grandparents, lived through the Indian Removal Act of 1830 ( we’re from several different Native American tribes), and this never fails to put things in perspective for me. Losing an entire culture, land, and family, what an insurmountable tragedy — the repercussions are still seen today on the reservation. Life is undoubtedly a cake-walk compared to what many have endured. Thanks for sharing this and reminding us to live in gratitude for what we have.
