Definition of Sadaqah
Sadaqah means charity, in the broad sense, the gift of self towards the other. It is a virtue of Islam that can take many forms: a gift of money, physical help to build a house, a concern for others through dialogue. This form of openness is a great virtue. We can say that zakât is a form of “sadaqah“. Nonetheless, with the difference that it is a personal and obligatory alms among the 5 pillars of Islam.
The beneficiaries of the Sadaqa are quoted in the Quran: “The sadaqah is intended for the poor, the destitute, those who take it, those whose hearts are to be won, the emancipation of yokes, those who are heavily in debt, in the path of Allah, and for the traveller. ”
Sadaqah is not limited to just money. Passing on knowledge to others, giving sincere advice, or helping a person can be considered a Sadaqah. In Islam, the simple act of greeting a brother can deliver as a form of a gift. Help in the Duniah, a reward in the Akhirah

“Those who, secretly and openly, night and day, spend their goods (in good works), have their wages with their Lord. They have nothing to fear. They will not be afflicted.” said in the Quran.
Let’s remember that alms do not diminish our wealth, it increases it. And if we, sometimes, want to follow the advice of the most coveted businessmen as for the management of our goods, let us try to follow the advice of Allah as for the best investments for us as for the others, for here below as for the hereafter.
Yes, sadaqah provides incredible benefits! For example, if you build a well in your lifetime, Allah will reward you for every drop of water, even after you die. Likewise, if you buy a Qur’an for a mosque, Allah will reward you every time someone binds it. Even when you leave, or die. If you build a mosque, Allah will reward you for each prayer performed inside.
Types of sadaqah
The Sadaqah Jariyah are as innumerable as priceless: The sewing machine which will allow the widow to generate an income, the wheelchair which will help the handicapped motor to move, the Quran, used by the believer to meditate or the quilt which will warm the orphan. Let us observe those around us and love for them what we love for ourselves. Give sadaqah to help the community.
Water — Sadaqah jariyah
Legally speaking, a woman can give sadaqah Jariya in the name of her father. Indeed, Sa’d ibn ‘Ubâda reported: “I say to the Prophet ():” O Messenger of Allah, my mother died, may I give sadaqah in her last name ?” — “Yes,” he replied. — “What is the best sadaqah ?” I asked then. — “Give water to drink,” he replied. ” In Islam, sadaqah does not necessarily mean giving away money. The Prophet explicitly said water is the best sadaqah. Therefore, giving away a glass of water will not only help the needy person but also please the Creator.
Donating water can bring entire communities back to life thanks to sadaqah Jariyah’s chain reaction. We will see a healthy village, healthy livestock, school children and employed women, irrigated land, and sustainable livelihoods. Education — Sadaqah jariyah
According to Anas, the Prophet said: “He who teaches a science has the reward of the one who worked with it, without this in any way reducing the reward of the one who worked”.
