That’s the only place where you’re wrong. You DO need a lot of money. In MA for instance, to run a credible campaign, even for something as small as state representative, it often requires putting your job on hold for a prolonged period of time — in addition to raising at least $30-40,000 to run a plausible campaign with direct mail and a field staff.
