This article has come at that point of my career where I can really appreciate wisdom that is being shared. Though I haven’t come across death by planning, I have certainly come across a superior who exudes all the qualities of the project manager you have described. What we see is death by tracking. He wants every single hour of employee task to be accounted for, is openly critical of team’s efforts (blame game), pushes his views and does not seem to respect other person’s opinions. There are positives to his behavior like he likes to share his knowledge. But as a project manager, this person absolutely annihilates team co-ordination and creativity.

Extremely well explained article.
