Lessons in Love from Maleficent

There has been a lot of praise for the relationship between the sisters in Disney’s Frozen, because supporting each other, and their kingdom, is more important than getting the guy. With this in mind, I’m surprised that more wasn’t said about the reimagining of “true love’s kiss” in Disney’s Maleficent. We watched it for the first time last night. Not only was it a far better movie than I had been led to believe, but it explores many aspects of love.

When I shared my thoughts with my friend M.K. Buck, she said, “I love how they show how deception can darken a soul. How true love is not always for lovers and that it can soften a hardened heart.”
