The Cycle
Human Parts

Horrendous and heartbreaking as such stories may be, they need to be told for the sake of present and future generations of women (and not only women because witnessing this kind of abuse has terrible and often permanent effects on children’s psyche — boys and girls alike). My grandmother died a gruesome death at age 29 from septic wounds inflicted by my grandfather (while in the vineyard, he took a dirty jagged wooden stick which was supporting the vine and shoved it up her vagina). She died a slow torturing death as it was 1939 and antibiotics or painkillers hadn’t come out yet, for the sole ‘guilt' of being a woman. 29 turned out to be an ominous age for women in my family as my mother was put to jail at that age (also for women related reasons).
