Not really. Men started using a somewhat devious variant — shoelifts. The fact that many women wear an upfront version is something that society norms demand of them. Have you ever tried using high heels for an hour at least? Just for slowly moving around, not carrying stuff or even running in them, which women do on a daily basis. I only know one man (as a man man) to have done that -Prince, the singer. The splits that man was doing in high heels…wow!

As for women…nobody forces them to wear them, they are of course free not to (wink wink).
